SYS Technologies buys Antin Engineering

SYS Technologies Inc. has acquired Antin Engineering Inc., a provider of IT services, for $2.6 million in cash and stock.

SYS Technologies Inc. has acquired Antin Engineering Inc., a provider of IT services, for $2.6 million in cash and stock, the company announced today.

The acquisition will strengthen San Diego-based SYS Technologies' business capabilities in homeland security and public safety, the company said.

Antin, also of San Diego, provides IT, command and control and technical support services including systems engineering, test and evaluation, training, human systems integration and XML-directed solutions.

Antin posted revenue of $4 million for the nine months ending Sept. 20. It has access to several federal government schedule contracts and an active customer base that includes the military services and NASA.

Cliff Cooke, SYS Technologies' president and chief executive officer, said the company was not only attracted by Antin's federal government business, but also by the company's recent activities in homeland security, public safety and emergency preparedness.

"We see this as a logical area of business for us to enter, and this acquisition offers us more effective entry than if we were to develop the capability in-house, Cooke said.

SYS Technologies has about 340 employees and annual sales of $34.9, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas. The company offers engineering, management and IT consulting services to the commercial and government sectors.
