DRS outfits armored vehicles

DRS Technologies Inc. of Parsippany, N.J., has received about $36 million worth of orders to provide its Applique Computer Systems for the Army's Force XXI Battle Command, Brigade and Below program, company officials said.

The systems are installed on Abrams Main Battle Tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles and support Army and Marine Corps operations. The Army's Communications-Electronic Command made the awards.

The system supports the Army's battlefield visualization effort and provides battle command information.

Delivery of more than 3,600 systems is scheduled to begin in June and continue throughout the year. The orders are associated with a five-year, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract awarded in 2004.
