Calif. city re-ups ACS for technology services

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. won a three-year, $9.8 million contract renewal from Irvine, Calif., to continue managing the city's information technology operations.

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won a three-year, $9.8 million contract renewal from Irvine, Calif., to continue managing the city's information technology operations, the company announced this month.

ACS of Dallas will continue providing a range of IT services, including operation and support of the city's data center, help desk and desktop support, applications support and network management. In addition, the company will offer consulting services to help the city align IT operations with business objectives.

The new contract will address changes in technology and corresponding changes in the city's infrastructure, said Jan Canevari, IT administrator with Irvine's Administrative Services Department.

The contract runs from July 1, 2005, through June 30, 2008. ACS has provided IT outsourcing services to Irvine since 1995.

ACS offers IT and business process outsourcing services. It has more than 43,000 employees and annual sales of $4.1 billion.
