NCI wins $14.4 million IT contract

NCI Information Systems Inc. won a five year, $14.4 million contract from the Air Mobility Command for information technology infrastructure support services, the company said today.


The Air Mobility Command provides strategic airlift and aerial refueling services for the country's armed forces. It also flies many special duty and operational support aircraft and is assigned to state aeromedical evacuation missions.


"We recognize that providing secure, robust and reliable classified and unclassified systems is critical to accomplishing the command's mission," said Mike Solley, president of NCI.


Under the contract, NCI will provide engineering services and implement new IT infrastructure requirements; operate and maintain the command's secret Internet protocol and non-secure Internet routing protocol network infrastructure and systems; and provide information assurance activities. NCI also will complete engineering, implementation and operations and management activities for the command's IT services transformation program.


The contract includes some follow-on activities to existing work NCI is providing to Air Mobility Command. EMC Corp. of Hopkinton, Mass., and NetIQ Corp. of San Jose, Calif., are subcontractors on the new contract.


Based in Reston, Va., NCI provides IT, systems engineering and integration services to the federal agencies. The privately owned company employs more than 1,400 people and had 2003 revenue of $136.4 million, according to Hoover's Online.
