Raytheon wins AF radar work

Raytheon Co. won a five year $13 million contract from the Air Force to upgrade mobile ground radar systems for Hill Air Force Base in Utah, the company said Thursday.

Under the task order contract, Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC of Reston, Va., will upgrade AN/TPS-75 radar system subassemblies to increase their reliability, reduce maintenance costs and eliminate obsolete parts. The radar system conducts long-range search and altitude-finding operations and provides the data to support tactical aircraft.

Raytheon has provided support for the radar system for Hill Air Force Base since 1997. The company will perform the new work at offices in Long Beach and Sacramento, Calif.

Headquartered in Waltham, Mass., Raytheon employs 78,000 people and had 2003 revenue of $18.1 billion. The company is No. 7 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
