CDC awards $74 million deal for info center services

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has awarded a seven-year, $73.7 million contract to NCS Pearson Inc. to provide the public with information about toxic substances and diseases.

The Arlington, Va., company will run the contact center for CDC's Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. The agency wants to make sure the center offers "one face to the public" by providing consistent, timely and reliable health information, CDC noted last week in its announcement of the contract.

NCS Pearson will staff and manage the registry's contact center, and implement the center's technology infrastructure, communications and application software.

The contract has two base years and five option years.
