Accenture taps subcontractors on U.S. Visit

Accenture LLP is moving forward on the massive $10 billion U.S. Visit project, completing its negotiations on three subcontracts with major systems integrators.

The company has selected Raytheon Co. of Waltham, Mass., SRA International Inc. of Arlington, Va., and Titan Corp. of San Diego as the three lead subcontractors for the program's Smart Border Alliance.

The Homeland Security Department awarded Accenture the 10-year U.S. Visit contract last May. Under the 10-year contract, Accenture's Smart Border Alliance will help develop and implement a new entry/exit system at more than 400 air, land and sea ports of entry in the United States.

The system will create a virtual border that operates beyond U.S. boundaries to help DHS assess the security risks of all U.S.-bound travelers and try to prevent potential threats from reaching the country's borders.

Under the subcontracts, Raytheon will provide support for systems engineering, biometrics and overall enterprise architecture structuring. It will play a lead role in deployment activities.

SRA International will provide support for data analysis and help manage data privacy and security considerations on behalf of the Smart Border Alliance.

Titan will provide support for quality management, configuration management and systems testing. The company also will provide systems engineering, system design and development and deployment support.

Accenture Ltd., the Bermuda-based parent company, employs approximately 95,000 employees in 48 countries and had revenue of $11.8 billion for the fiscal year ended Aug. 31. The company is No. 24 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list of contractors, ranked according to their federal prime contracting revenue.
