ILS is the largest e-marketplace in the world for the aviation, marine and defense industries with more than five billion parts and 10,000 subscribers, according to the company. More than 3,500 government purchasing agents from 60 agencies use ILS to locate military and General Services Administration parts and supplies. IHS of Englewood, Colo., is a publisher of technical, engineering and regulatory content.

Online aircraft parts locator Inventory Locator Service LLC has expanded its partnership with Information Handling Services Inc. to offer a solution to companies and government agencies that manage maintenance and repair on aircraft needing obsolete parts.

The solution combines technical, lifecycle and supply chain information for original and alternative parts from hundreds of databases and thousands of vendors and aftermarket suppliers, ILS said.

The joint solution ultimately will provide tools to aggregate and interpret technical and supply chain data, so that several databases can be accessed simultaneously.

The joint solution consists of:

  • ILS' global database of spare and replacement parts for aviation, aerospace, marine and defense industries


  • A comprehensive government parts and logistics management database, called Haystack, which provides integrated logistics and procurement data on more than 100 million items from more than 40 federal and related databases


  • A comprehensive database of electronic components from HIS, called Caps Expert, which enables analytical and research capabilities for managing obsolete parts.
