Maryland county taps BearingPoint for justice system

BearingPoint Inc. has won a $3.1 million contract to provide an integrated criminal justice information system to Montgomery County, Md., the company announced this week.

Under the contract, BearingPoint of McLean, Va., will design and implement a Web-based criminal justice information system. The system will provide faster access to real-time information, enhance interagency collaboration and help address citizen safety issues, the company said.

The county is integrating disparate public safety systems across multiple platforms so the county's public safety and criminal justice agencies can share information vital to making decisions on a day-to-day basis.

The new system replaces the county's legacy criminal justice information system designed and built in the 1980s. The project will be completed in May 2005.

The company's team includes Templar Corp., Alexandria, Va.; PSComm LLC., Rockville, Md.; and Advanced Software Systems Inc., McLean, Va.

BearingPoint has about 15,000 employees and annual sales of $3.1 billion.
