Harris buys Orkand for $66M cash

Harris Corp. completed its $66 million, all-cash acquisition of the privately held Orkand Corp. of Falls Church, Va.

Orkand has more than 1,000 employees in 22 states and had $80 million in revenue for the 12 months ended March 2004. Its federal clients include the Energy, Health and Human Services, Interior, Labor and State departments and the Postal Service.

Harris, Melbourne, Fla., provides communications technology to the federal and commercial sectors. The company had 2003 revenue of $2.1 billion.
