Connecticut CIO Regan resigns
Rock Regan will resign his position Aug. 1.
A familiar face in state government IT contracting is stepping down. Rock Regan, chief information officer for Connecticut, announced he will resign his position effective Aug. 1.
Regan chose to announce his resignation in a letter to the National Association of State Chief Information Officers of Lexington, Ky. He was an active member of the leadership, having served as NASCIO president in 2001-02.
In a brief note to NASCIO, Regan noted that he had the pleasure of serving seven years as Connecticut's CIO. The national average for a state CIO to serve in office is 31 months, Regan noted in the letter.
The change of administration follows the tumultuous resignation of Connecticut Gov. John Rowland (R) June 21. Rowland tendered his resignation amid a growing financial scandal stemming from allegations that he had failed to disclose receiving gifts from people doing business with the state.
Lt. Gov. M. Jodi Rell took over the governorship July 1. Earlier this month, Rell established a task force to make recommendations on how to reform state contracting practices.
