Axiom Resource Management Inc., a professional services firm, won a five-year, $4 million contract from the Defense Logistics Agency for program management support, the company announced this week.

Axiom of Falls Church, Va., will help DLA improve its business and management processes. Northern Virginia-based Logistics Systems Inc. will support Axiom on the project.

DLA launched a program two years ago to apply emerging technologies and best commercial practices to improve efficiency and productivity, the company said. The agency's Business Systems Modernization initiative intends to streamline its supply and distribution systems, shrink stockpiled inventories and reduce costs while improving services to U.S. troops around the world.

Axiom's five divisions, which specialize in business process improvement, help clients achieve higher performance standards and meet more ambitious business goals. The firm's federal government clients include the Tricare Management Activity, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Federal Aviation Administration.
