Northrop Grumman wins Navy, Army work

Northrop Grumman Corp. has received a contract modification from the Navy worth $35.6 million for work on the USS George Washington, an aircraft carrier.

The Los Angeles-based company also received several task orders under a $69 million Army contract, Northrop Grumman announced this week.

The defense company's Newport News sector received a prime contract modification for planning work on the George Washington, including scheduling, engineering and design work, material procurement, shop prefabrication, ship checks and personnel training. The existing contract was awarded last December.

Northrop Grumman also won several task orders from the Army to provide support services for the Army Intelligence Master Plan contract, a project to develop intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities for future operations.

Awarded last March, the contract has a potential value of $69 million, if all options are exercised. Under the contract, Northrop Grumman provides decision-support, planning, study, programming, budgeting, execution, modeling, simulation and analysis services to Army intelligence and training commands and the Army Intelligence Center and School at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., the company said.

Los Angeles-based Northrop Grumman is No. 2 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list. It employs 120,000 workers and had 2003 revenue of $26.2 billion.
