Anteon nets training deal at Aberdeen

Anteon International Corp. won a five-year contract from the Army to create technical and professional development courses and provide training instructors at the Ordinance Mechanical Maintenance School, the company said today. The contract is worth about $21.7 million if all options are exercised.

Based at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, the school's mission is to develop operational doctrine, organizations and materiel requirements in materiel maintenance and to train mechanical maintenance personnel who support operational commanders.

"There is a shortage of active-duty instructors available for school training assignments due to the Army's global commitments," said Mike Canavan, president of Anteon's information systems group. "This instructor staff augmentation award helps the Army to fill that void."

The Fairfax, Va., IT and systems engineering and integration company ranks No. 19 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors. The company employs more than 8,200 workers worldwide and had 2003 revenue of $1 billion.
