Simmons to head Trend Micro's federal sales
Tom Simmons has been hired to lead federal sales for Trend Micro Inc.
Tom Simmons has been hired to lead federal sales for Trend Micro Inc., the Cupertino, Calif.-based company announced this week.
Simmons, who has more than 15 years of experience in federal information technology sales and marketing and has led federal services team for several companies, will be director of the company's federal sector. He will lead a team of about seven people.
He most recently was senior vice president for MicroWarehouse GovEd Inc., Reston Va. Simmons also worked for Compaq Computer Corp., Hayes Microcomputer Products Inc. and OTG Software Inc.
Simmons takes over at a time when the company is seeking to broaden its presence in the federal market. The company declined to disclose the revenue of its government business.
Customers include the departments of Defense, Energy, Housing and Urban Development, Justice, State and Transportation as well as the Office of the President, Patent and Trademark Office, Social Security Administration and Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
Trend Micro provides network anti-virus and Internet content security. The company has more than 1,800 employees and annual sales of $447 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
