Lockheed gets $220M for radar

The Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center awarded a $220 million contract for space radar for a constellation of spacecraft that will monitor the surface of the entire Earth to provide global intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

The 24-month study contract to continue development of the Space-Based Radar program was awarded to Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md.

Lockheed Martin will continue the definition of the program's system requirements, evaluate alternative design concepts for the system architecture, and develop and evaluate several candidate architectures, including integration of Space-Based Radar with other surveillance systems.
