Justice re-ups Aspen for criminal justice reference service

Aspen Systems Corp. has won a $71 million contract from the Justice Department to continue operating the National Criminal Justice Reference Service, the company announced this week. The company was awarded five-year contracts for both Lot 1 and Lot 2 of the project.

Under the contracts, Aspen Systems of Rockville, Md., will supply clearinghouse information services and publishing support to the Justice and Homeland Security departments and the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

The contracts will leverage Aspen Systems' advanced technology solutions, expanded partnerships and criminal justice expertise to transform the reference service into a fuller online resource, the company said.

The company will build a new Web site that will serve as a resource for justice and substance abuse treatment practitioners, policymakers and researchers looking for information. Services will include a response center, library and document distribution.

Aspen Systems is an information management company that offers business process and technology solutions to the government and commercial sectors. The company has 2,000 employees and annual sales of $157 million.
