Florida names Marstiller CIO
Simone Marstiller, former Bush aide, is latest Florida chief information officer.
Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has appointed Simone Marstiller to serve as the state's chief information officer.
Marstiller, who was appointed to the position last week, has served as the governor's deputy chief of staff since July 2003.
She replaces Hoyt Ralston, who has served as acting CIO since March 1. Ralston succeeded state CIO Kim Bahrami, who resigned her post Feb. 4.
Marstiller was general counsel for the Florida Department of Management Services from October 2002 to June 2003 and interim secretary of the department from January 7, 2003, to April 14, 2003.
Previously, she served as assistant general counsel to Bush and was responsible for overseeing and coordinating major litigation and other legal matters involving the departments of Children and Families, Management Services and Elder Affairs.
Before working for Bush, she was chief appellate counsel for the Agency for Health Care Administration.
Marstiller earned her undergraduate degree from Stetson University in DeLand, Fla., and her law degree from Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, Fla.
