DHS posts wireless needs

The Homeland Security Department's Science and Technology Directorate April 26 released a document outlining technology requirements for public safety wireless communications and interoperability.

The requirements complement grant guidance and provide a road map for the nation's interoperability goals, said Charles McQueary, DHS' undersecretary for science and technology.

Developed under Project Safecom, the document outlines for the nation's 50,000 public safety agencies the future technology requirements for communicating and sharing information.
