AT&T wins Navy simulation systems deal

AT&T Government Solutions Inc., Vienna, Va., won a performance-based contract to provide engineering and technical support services to the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center in Charleston, S.C., the Defense Department said in a statement.

The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract has a base value of $10.3 million, but four one-year options could bring that total to $54.6 million over the life of the deal. The Defense Department expects work to last until May 2009.

Under the contract, AT&T will support the Navy's Joint Warfare Systems program. Joint Warfare Systems is an advanced modeling and simulation application used by the military to analyze complex battlefield scenarios.

The unit of AT&T Corp. of Bedminster, N.J., will provide software development and modifications, analytical support, scenario development, installation and maintenance, configuration management, testing, and validation and accreditation.

According to the Defense Department, the contract was competitively procured, but AT&T was the only company to respond to the request for proposals, which was posted on the SPAWAR Systems Center E-Commerce Web site. According to Reston, Va.-based Input Inc., the RFP was issued Sept. 25, 2003.

With 2003 revenues of $34.5 billion, AT&T ranked No. 20 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
