Raytheon to support Navy defense systems

Raytheon Technical Services Company, a subsidiary of Waltham, Mass.-based Raytheon Co., has won a 10-year contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center to provide engineering services, the company said.

The contract is potentially worth $237 million if all options are exercised.

Under the contract, Raytheon will provide engineering, technical and logistics services to support the Navy's integrated ship defense systems program. The company will help with asset staging and installation to repair, modernize and support the defense systems.

In addition, Raytheon will provide in-service engineering and systems integration for the Navy's combat and weapons systems.

Bryan Even, president of Raytheon Technical Services, said his group will support many of its own products under the new contract.

"Supporting various ship systems under this contract, including many Raytheon products, aligns with our strategic objective to extend product support service delivery to our customers," Even said.

Work is expected to last through May 2014 and be performed at Port Hueneme, Calif., as well as at land-based test sites and on board Navy ships.

With 2003 sales of $18.1 billion and 78,000 employees, Raytheon ranked No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2003 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue. Washington Technology's 2004 ranking are due out in May.
