Raytheon gets Milsatcom subcontract from Boeing

Raytheon Co. has won a $31.3 million subcontract from the Boeing Co. to support work on the next-generation Milsatcom risk reduction and system definition program, the company announced this week.

The 27-month contract is worth $19.3 million and includes an additional $12 million in options, the company said.

Raytheon of Waltham, Mass., will lead the definition, design, development and integration of ground portions of the SAT Space Segment, which includes the SAT Satellite Operations Element and resource management for the CONUS Ground Gateway Element. The company also will support overall SAT Space Segment architecture definition and design. Raytheon will perform the work in Aurora, Colo.

The Milsatcom Joint Program Office awarded one of two contracts to an industry team led by Boeing of Chicago to conduct the risk reduction and system definition phase of the Transformational Communications Satcom Space Segment program, which runs through 2006. The Air Force plans to award a final contract in 2006.

Raytheon has 78,000 employees and annual sales of $18.1 billion. The company ranked No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2003 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue. Washington Technology's 2004 rankings are due out in May.
