Maximus wins three state Medicaid deals

Maximus Inc. has won new contracts totaling $13.3 million with three states to provide school-based Medicaid claims services, the company announced today.

Maximus of Reston, Va., won the contracts from the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, the Kentucky Department of Education and the Michigan Department of Management and Budget.

When schools provide health-related services to students, states can recover the costs of those services for children that are covered by the federally funded Medicaid programs.

Under two-year contracts with Arizona and Kentucky, Maximus will prepare claims for reimbursement of school health-related services provided to Medicaid eligible students, and help states retain their federal reimbursements. For one of the contracts, Maximus also is processing claims and serving as the third-party administrator.

Under a six-month contract with Michigan, Maximus will monitor services delivered by other providers.

The company's school-based Medicaid administrative and direct service claiming programs include developing amendments to state plans, creating claim guides, identifying covered services, developing rates, and designing and delivering outreach strategies and training programs.

Maximus provides school-based Medicaid recovery services to more than 1,500 school districts nationwide. To date, these efforts have recovered more than $560 million in Medicaid revenue.

Maximus provides state and local government with program management, information technology and consulting services. Maximus has more than 5,500 employees and annual sales of $558 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
