ACS expands Florida work-force deals

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won additions to two contracts with work-force regions in Florida, the company announced today. The combined value of the additional work is $885,000, the company said.

Under the contract with the Florida Crown Workforce Development Board, ACS will offer more local youths a chance to take part in summer school and work programs. This development board covers Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist and Union counties.

The program expansion will provide tutoring to help youths pass the Florida Competency Assessment Test, said John Chastain, the board's executive director. "This effort will target 200 additional youth, and help to ensure their smooth transition into the work force," he said.

ACS provides one-stop operations, Workforce Investment Act and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families services for the board.

Under the contract with Workforce Central Florida, ACS will provide Food Stamp Employment and Training and Unemployment Compensation Re-employment Services. This board includes Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Sumter counties

ACS manages and operates 81 welfare-to-work contracts in 18 states and the District of Columbia. It offers business process and information technology outsourcing services to government and commercial customers. The company has more than 40,000 employees and annual sales of $3.7 billion.
