Washington Technology won a gold medal today at the 50th Annual Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards in New York for its coverage last year on the use of dubious academic degrees among federal employees.

Washington Technology won a gold medal today at the 50th Annual Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards in New York for its coverage last year on the use of dubious academic degrees among federal employees.

WT won "Best News Coverage" for publications in its category for stories written by Patience Wait and Wilson P. Dizard III.

Government Computer News, a sister publication to WT, was a runner-up for "Best News Coverage" in its category for coverage of the same issue.

WT had two of the three finalists in the Best News Coverage category, with its coverage of small-business issues by Gail Repsher Emery also honored. All finalists are awarded Neal medals.

The Neal awards are given annually by American Business Media of New York, a national association of trade publications.
