NSA taps NCI for knowledge management work

NCI Information Systems Inc. has won a $1.3 million contract from the National Security Agency to provide knowledge management development services, the company announced March 18.

NCI of Reston, Va., will offer services and support for the ongoing spiral development of NSA's knowledge system prototype. Spiral development is a software development approach whereby functions are regularly added to a system without having to shut it down.

The project goal is to transition the prototype system, along with other NSA initiatives, into a robust acquisition program, the company said.

NCI's Scientific and Engineering Solutions unit will perform the work, which falls under NSA's Knowledge Systems Operation Support and Transition contract. The unit focuses on IT and services for national security programs.

NCI performs information technology, systems engineering and systems integration services. It has about 1,400 employees and annual sales of $138 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
