MTC captures avionics work

MTC Technologies Inc. received an order worth up to $10 million from the Defense Department to continue maintaining avionics software for the Army's combat and support aircraft, the company said today.

MTC is a principal subcontractor to Northrop Grumman Corp. under the yearlong order, worth an estimated $10 million if all four of its one-year options are exercised. The subcontract was awarded under the Army's Communication-Electronics Command's Systems and Software Engineering Contract.

The work supports the Army's Software Engineering Center Avionics Team and consists of providing technical and professional services primarily at Fort Monmouth, N.J., where the Communications-Electronics Command is headquartered. Fort Monmouth is a center for research, development and engineering in avionics, countersurveillance and electronic warfare, among others.

MTC of Dayton, Ohio, provides systems engineering, information technology and intelligence and program management services to the federal government, particularly the Defense Department. It has provided systems engineering, software product development, software maintenance, kit and component manufacturing, aircraft retrofitting and information technology to Fort Monmouth's avionics division for more than 15 years, MTC said.

MTC has about 1,500 employees and in 2003, the company reported profits of $31 million on revenue of $189 million, according to its annual report. Clients in the Defense Department and intelligence community generated around 95 percent of MTC's revenue last year.
