Calif. county taps Hansen for land management

Hansen Information Technologies Inc. has won a $3.7 million contract to provide Riverside County, Calif., with a land and transportation management system, the company announced this week.

Hansen of Sacramento, Calif., will provide the county's Transportation and Land Management Agency with an integrated system to help manage the county's building permits, code enforcement, licensing, geographic information systems, transportation and cashiering business processes.

The new system, which replaces a legacy-based, client-server land management application, is based on the Hansen 8 software solution. The solution is an XML Web-services application that uses Microsoft .NET architecture and is accessible via the Internet. Hansen will implement the system in the next 12 months.

A key aspect of the project will include development of standardized data conversion and migration tools to convert data from the county's legacy system to Hansen's XML Web-services solution. The software implementation will be funded entirely from county development fees, Hansen said.

The Transportation and Land Management Agency is responsible for countywide planning, land-use development, building permit and licensing as well as the construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of the county's 2,600-mile network of roadways and storm-water infrastructure.

Hansen offers software applications and solutions to government. It has more than 250 employees and annual sales of $28 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
