CACI wins logistics support subcontract

CACI International Inc. won a subcontract worth about $70 million, under which the Arlington, Va., company will provide integrated logistics, project management, training and other services for the U.S. Navy's Atlantic Fleet, CACI officials announced today.

The subcontract was awarded by EG&G Technical Services of Gaithersburg, Md., a division of the URS Corp. of San Francisco. CACI will support the U.S. Navy's Fleet Technical Support Center, Atlantic.

The award continues CACI's work in naval logistics and extends the company's core line of engineering and logistics business, CACI officials said. Since 1997, CACI has helped maintain the Navy's Atlantic Fleet Integrated Logistics Overhaul operations, which improve ship readiness by identifying and updating a unit's operating equipment and parts inventory.

The current subcontract calls for CACI to help plan maintenance systems and procedures, update technical manuals, and train personnel to operate and sustain the fleet.

CACI was selected by EG&G for its ability to provide integrated logistics overhaul, operational and post-availability logistics, technical documentation and supply management, CACI officials said.

Ken Johnson, CACI's president of U.S. operations, said CACI's expertise in personnel, equipment and program management will help the Navy remain prepared and on alert 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
