Knowledge Consulting Group lands first prime contract

Knowledge Consulting Group, Sterling, Va., won a contract from the Defense Department to provide information assurance security services to the Counterintelligence Field Activity and the FBI's Foreign Terrorist Tracking Task Force.

The contract is for one year with four one-year options. If all options are exercised, the deal is worth $21.4 million, the company said.

Company officials said it is KCG's first GSA schedule award and its first prime contract win. In the past, the company has provided information security services as a subcontractor to integrators such as BearingPoint Inc., Computer Sciences Corp., Electronic Data Systems Corp., General Dynamics Corp., Lockheed Martin Corp., Northrop Grumman Corp. and Science Applications International Corp.

Under the new contract, KCG will help evaluate existing information security programs to ensure compliance with Defense Department guidelines. The company also will create and implement new security policies.

KCG's services include network vulnerability and risk assessment, system certification and accreditation, network intrusion detection, incident analysis and handling, and cybersecurity policy development and implementation. KCG also delivers network infrastructure solutions and operation services.

KCG has worked with CIFA for more than three years, providing high-level systems infrastructure support services. CIFA develops and manages Defense Department counterintelligence programs.

The FBI Foreign Terrorist Tracking Task Force was created as part of the Justice Department as a result of Homeland Security Presidential Directive-2. Its mission is to ensure agencies have the intelligence they need to prevent terrorists from entering the country.

Raytheon Co., Waltham, Mass., and Gray Hawk Systems Inc., Alexandria, Va., will serve as subcontractors.
