Digimarc wins Latvia digital drivers license deal

Digimarc Corp. has won a $9 million contract from the Road Traffic Safety Directorate of Latvia for a digital drivers license system, the company announced today.

Digimarc of Tualatin, Ore., will design, install, maintain and service the system. It also will supply materials and enhanced security features, such as digital watermarking, a materials tracking and management system and inkjet printing technology to produce Latvian driver's licenses and learner permits.

Digimarc offers secure driver license solutions for 32 U.S. states and 20 countries in Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia. The company's international customers include the United Kingdom, Russia, New Zealand, Philippines, Costa Rica, Botswana and several Canadian provinces.

Digimarc has more than 400 employees and annual revenue of $86 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
