Vista to aid in base closure study

Vista Technology Services Inc. has been hired by the Army's deputy assistant secretary for infrastructure analysis to help in the base realignment and closure, or BRAC, initiative slated to get under way in 2005.

Vista will provide support for a Web-based application to collect capacity and military value data for the BRAC study.

The company also will assist in designing and processing queries against the data collected, an application help desk, application training, analytical support and application maintenance and modifications.

The value of the contract was disclosed.

The base closure study, part of defense transformation, is a congressionally mandated requirement to collect, analyze and report on facilities that support operational missions. Originally applicable only to the military services, the Defense Authorization Act of 2002 called for another round of BRAC in 2005, this time involving all of the Defense Department.

This is the seventh defense-related contract won by Vista in January. The company also has won contracts with the Defense Contract Management Agency, the Defense Information Systems Agency, Defense Finance and Accounting Systems Agency, the Defense Supply Center-Philadelphia, Missile Defense Agency and the Defense Logistics Agency.

Based in Herndon, Va., Vista is a privately held, veteran-owned company with about 50 employees.
