Troux Technologies launches federal solutions group

Troux Technologies Inc. has formed a federal solutions group to serve the government market for enterprise architecture solutions, the company said.

The Austin, Texas-based company develops software that allows IT departments to organize technology assets and map them against business functions.

"Since the passage of the Clinger-Cohen Act, agency [chief information officers] are struggling to implement the mandate requiring elimination of redundant systems and ensuring the most effective use of IT resources," said Pat Emerson, vice president of sales for Troux Technologies. "With this act, agencies have to implement a portfolio investment process that tracks metrics and values to justify their choices for technology investments."

Initiatives such as the Federal Enterprise Architecture and the e-Gov Act are further pressuring agencies to consolidate infrastructures and build business cases for new projects.

According to the company, the Troux platform automatically gathers information about the IT environment from disparate sources and aligns resources with organizational goals. The information is stored in a central repository and gives agencies an up-to-date view of their IT baseline.

In addition to managing systems, Troux software can help agencies with risk mitigation and compliance, the company said.

Troux Technologies joins several software companies trying to deliver solutions for managing government IT infrastructure. BMC Software Inc., Computer Associates International Inc., IBM Corp. and others sell various products for managing IT systems.

Privately held Troux Technologies has customers in the financial services, telecommunications and manufacturing industries.
