TCS finishes buy of Aether's EMS Division
TeleCommunications Systems Inc. has completed its acquisition of the Enterprise Mobility Solutions division of Aether Systems Inc.
TeleCommunications Systems Inc. has completed its acquisition of the Enterprise Mobility Solutions division of Aether Systems Inc. for $19 million, the company announced this week.
With the acquisition, Annapolis, Md.-based TCS will be able to offer customers integrated messaging, synchronization and Web technologies for phones, personal digital assistants and other handheld devices that use wireless networks.
The company "is now well positioned to offer wireless data and location-based solutions incorporating platform technologies for carriers, enterprise and government," said Maurice Tose, TCS' chairman, president and chief executive officer.
TCS is adding 112 employees as well as 1,200 enterprise customers and 60,000 wireless data users.
Gregg Smith, president of Aether EMS, will continue to lead the division in a similar role for TCS. The division will operate from its location in Owings Mills, Md., as well as its European offices in the United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden and the Netherlands.
