Lawson lands contract with Seminole tribe

Lawson Software Inc. has won a contract with the Seminole Tribe of Florida to provide financials, human resources and procurement software suites to manage its government operations. The contract does not cover gaming operations. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The Seminoles have about 3,000 members on five reservations in Florida peninsula, and the tribe employs about 1,400 people in its government operations.

Due to revenue growth, the tribe outgrew the capabilities of its legacy systems, and it is now looking to manage its operations on a single integrated system.

"The tribe opted for a big bang approach," said Nelson Goodreau, an independent consultant providing project management services for the tribe. "The Lawson implementation will impact every aspect of the tribe's government operations, enabling us to expedite recruitment, simplify purchasing processes and enhance service levels."

Based in St. Paul, Minn., Lawson recorded fiscal 2003 revenue of $344.3 million. The company employs more than 1,600 people.
