Chinese province taps PlanGraphics for urban management
PlanGraphics Inc. has won a $2.1 million contract from Liaoning, China, to provide an urban management information system.
PlanGraphics Inc. has won a $2.1 million contract from Liaoning, China, to provide an urban management information system, the company announced today.
Under the contract, PlanGraphics of Frankfort, Ky., will prepare a full-scale urban management information system for the city of Shenyang, as well as simpler systems the cities of Panjin and Yingkou. The project also includes an urban management information system to be used by the Liaoning Provincial Construction Bureau.
The project will rely heavily on geographic information system and Internet technology, the company said.
The company will set up a basic GIS infrastructure, build a comprehensive underground pipeline information system, build a provincial clearinghouse of spatial data, and develop a pilot showcase for an urban management information system to generate support for the concept and to encourage other cities to embrace the approach to enterprise information technology.
Liaoning province, located in northeastern China, is the most urbanized province in the country and a major industrial center.
PlanGraphics provides systems integration and implementation services for clients in the public and private sectors. The company has more than 60 employees and annual revenue of $8.2 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
