Phila. taps Hansen for licensing, inspection system

Hansen Information Technologies Inc. has won a $3 million contract from Philadelphia for a building permit and code enforcement application, the company announced this week.

Under the contract, Hansen of Sacramento, Calif., will provide the application for the city's Department of Licenses and Inspections to streamline Philadelphia's building permit processing and coordinate plan review and approval methods.

The department processes more than 40,000 applications annually, including building permits, health and sanitation inspections, business licenses, code enforcement fines and other licenses.

The project also includes implementation of Hansen's Web-based portal, which will allow citizens and businesses to apply online for permits and licenses.

Hansen also will offer software licensing for an additional 150 handheld computers. This solution enables field crews and other remote users to send and receive work requests, violations, fee adjustments and other work assignments. It also shortens the processing time for inspections and approvals, the company said.

Hansen furnishes enterprise resource planning applications for government and not-for-profit organizations. The company has more than 250 employees.
