LaserFiche wins DoD certs

LaserFiche has received Defense Department certification for a version of its records management software, the company announced.

The company said that the certification of its LaserFiche solution would appeal not only to military services but also to civilian agencies interested in a records management system, as it reduces the amount of evaluation needed, said Thomas Wayman, marketing director for LaserFiche.

LaserFiche Records Management Edition version 7 was certified by the Joint Interoperability Test Command in September as meeting the requirements set by DOD Directive 5015.2. The directive sets the guidelines for creating and preserving information, both electronic and physical, as records within Defense Department offices.

The software was tested on Microsoft Corp.'s Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP servers. The command tested features such as how the system declared documents as records, how it managed the dispositions of records, how the records were stored and date-stamped, and how well the system freezes and unfreezes folders.

The cost of LaserFiche Records starts at about $20,000 plus individual seat licenses, Wayman said.
