Va. taps PC Mall Gov for Microsoft deal

PC Mall Gov Inc. won a two-year, $26 million contract from Virginia to provide Microsoft Corp. products under a statewide, large-area reseller contract, the company announced today.

The initial two-year software and services contract includes an option to extend for up to three more years.

Under the contract, PC Mall Gov of Herndon, Va., will provide all Microsoft products, from operating systems to popular applications, including shrink-wrapped and licensed products in both full versions and upgrades from previous editions.

In addition, the deal provides both transactional and select agreements for government and academic customers, thus offering flexibility to meet individual agencies needs and budgets, according to the company.

The contract is open to all state agencies, local governments and public education institutions. The contract is one of the initial awards under Virginia Gov. Mark Warner's pilot program initiative, known as Virginia Partners in Procurement. The program was established to create an enterprisewide approach to public-sector procurement.

PC Mall Gov is a wholly owned subsidiary of PC Mall Inc. of Torrance, Calif. PC Mall has about 1,185 employees and annual sales of $863 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
