PanAmSat acquires Esatel

Satellite firm PanAmSat Corp. acquired telecommunications firm Esatel Communications Inc., expanding the Washington presence of its G2 Satellite Solutions division. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Alexandria, Va.-based Esatel, which specializes in solutions for the U.S. government, gives G2 a larger sales force and customer support network and adds new customers and infrastructure, according to PanAmSat officials.

Earlier this year, G2 acquired Hughes Global Services, adding skilled staff as well as customers in the Defense Department and civilian agencies. The Esatel acquisition adds staff, infrastructure and customers at the departments of State and Energy, among others. *
