Lawson Software to automate HR for Orange County, Calif.

Lawson Software Inc. won a contract worth more than $2 million from the transportation department in Orange County, Calif., to provide enterprise resource planning software, the company announced today.

Under the contract, Lawson Software of St. Paul, Minn., will provide ERP software applications and extensions to the agency to automate and streamline human resource processes as benefits enrollment, personnel data and payroll, the company said.

Lawson Software also will provide a self-service portal that will enable the department's 1,900 employees to view and maintain their own HR data using a Web browser as well as allow department managers to track and maintain information about their direct reports.

The additional technology extensions will help the department further automate HR processes and eliminate time-consuming manual operations, according to the company.

As part of the software licensing agreement, Lawson also will develop an interface for the Orange County Employees Retirement System and California Public Employees Retirement System. These interfaces will allow department employees to check their retirement information.

Lawson Software provides business process software solutions to organizations in the healthcare, retail, professional services, public sector and financial services markets. The company has about 1,675 employees and annual sales of $344 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
