Hart InterCivic to put county records online

Hart InterCivic Inc. has won a contract from Tarrant County, Texas, to provide an integrated electronic system for managing public records, the company announced today.

Under the contract, Hart InterCivic of Austin, Texas, will install its Anthem System to provide an integrated electronic recording, indexing and archiving of land records, birth and marriage records, military discharges and other public records. The contract is worth $480,000.

Following installation later this year, the public will have to access Tarrant County records via the Internet.

Hart Anthem is a comprehensive, modular system that captures a document from initial imaging and recording through indexing, verification, archiving and search and retrieval. The Anthem system uses a relational database, proven imaging system and a suite of business-driven applications to improve productivity, security and accessibility for users, according to the company.

As part of the Anthem installation, the company will convert about 20 million land records and other public documents from Tarrant County's mainframe document recording system. These historical records will be available online with all newly recorded documents.

Tarrant County, which includes the city of Fort Worth, is home to 1.35 million residents. The county records about 370,000 new public documents each year. Residents of the county will have access to documents at terminals located in county offices or from any computer with Internet access.

Hart InterCivic provides electronic voting equipment and document management software to state and local government.
