Calif. taps Northrop Grumman for child support program

Northrop Grumman Information Technology Inc. has won a five-year, $8.9 million contract from the California Department of Child Support Services to provide program management for the state's child support automation system project, the company announced Aug. 20.

The contract is for two years with three one-year options. Under the contract, Northrop Grumman IT of Herndon, Va., will help in implementing the California Child Support Automation System project. Ultimately, state personnel will take over the project management.

Northrop Grumman IT will administer selected project management processes, including planning, scheduling, analysis, reporting and other support. The company also will communicate project information to the enterprise-level California Child Support Automation System staff.

The project's goal is to integrate child support cases and information into a single system for all 58 counties in the state. The cases are currently tracked in six different systems.

Northrop Grumman IT is a unit of Northrop Grumman Corp. of Los Angeles. The company has more than 120,000 employees and annual sales of $17.2 billion. The company was ranked number two on Washington Technology's Top 100 List this year.
