Tyler inks tax system deal with Ga. county

Tyler Technologies Inc. has won a $4.7 million contract from Fulton County, Ga., for an electronic property tax system, the company announced July 23.

Under the contract, Cole Layer Trumble, a division of Dallas-based Tyler, will install and implement an integrated property tax assessment system. The Web-enabled system is an upgrade from the legacy property tax assessment software previously provided by Tyler's CLT division.

The integrated assessment system comprises several modules that will allow Fulton County to do everything from maintaining property descriptions to calculating taxes to producing bills and collecting funds.

The upgraded system is expected to be easier for county employees to use and requires less training. It eventually will give taxpayers Internet access to the department.

Tyler, a provider of information management solutions and services to local government, has about 1,230 employees and annual sales of $133.9 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
