Telos nabs Defense Manpower Data Center deal

Telos Corp. has won a five-year, $72 million contract to provide security solutions to the Defense Manpower Data Center, the company announced today.

Under the contract, Telos of Ashburn, Va., will provide hardware, software and services to support four systems at the data center: the real-time automated personnel identification system, the biometric identification system, the automated repatriation system and the noncombat evacuation operations tracking system.

The contract was awarded through the General Services Administration's Heartland Division.

The Defense Manpower Data Center maintains the largest archive of personnel, manpower, training, security and financial data within the Defense Department. The center also is responsible for the Common Access Card program, which is used to issue physical and electronic identity credentials for 4 million military personnel, defense civilian employees and contractors.

The Defense Manpower Data Center awarded a separate, five-year contract to Telos and its subsidiary, Xacta Corp., in December, 2002, to conduct turnkey certification and accreditation on all of the data center's systems, including the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System and many of its system-to-system interfaces.

Telos, No. 57 on the 2003 Washington Technology Top 100, is a provider of information system security solutions to the federal government and has more than 350 employees and annual sales of $90.5 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
