CSC wins $75 million State Department contract

Computer Sciences Corp. has been awarded a contract from the State Department to provide comprehensive logistics, humanitarian and peacekeeping support to humanitarian relief operations in Africa.

CSC estimated the value of the multiple award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract to be more than $75 million if all options are exercised over a five-year period.

Under the agreement, CSC's DynCorp International unit will support aid missions as they emerge. The company's capabilities include supplying subject matter experts to train peacekeeping and humanitarian missions; setting up and operating base camps and other facilities; and providing logistical expertise to deliver aid supplies and other services to African nations in need.

Steve Cannon, president of DynCorp International, called the contract a step forward for the State Department's humanitarian missions in Africa. "This contract consolidates several ? support contracts and builds in the ready-reserve capability needed to help deal with humanitarian crises effectively," he said.

Teaming with DynCorp on the contract are: ES-KO International of Monaco, which will provide food service and base camp support; Global Med-X of Atlanta, which will provide health care services; and Consolidated Safety Services of Fairfax, Va., which will provide environmental and safety advisory services.

Based in El Segundo, Calif., CSC has approximately 90,000 employees worldwide. The company reported revenue of $11.3 billion for the 12 months ended March 28.
