ACS cashes in on Motor City parking violations

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won a three-year, $8 million contract from Detroit to provide parking violations processing and collections, the company announced today.

Under the contract, Dallas-based ACS will implement and manage the city's violation notices and collections. Detroit issues about 500,000 parking violations annually. Based on that volume, ACS expects to generate up to $11 million in additional annual ticket revenue for the city through its processing and collections solutions, the company said.

ACS' subcontractors on the project are P.I.E. Management Inc., First Independence National Bank and Vision IT Inc.

ACS, a provider of business processing outsourcing and IT outsourcing services to the commercial and government sectors, handles parking violations processing and collections for more than 20 jurisdictions around the country.

The company has more than 40,000 employees and had annual sales of $3 billion in fiscal 2002.
