SRA wins Federal Acquisition Institute deal

SRA International Inc. won a contract for services and support of the Federal Acquisition Institute, company officials announced today. The contract, awarded by the General Services Administration, is worth up to $8.5 million over five years if all options are exercised, according to SRA.

The contract, awarded by the General Services Administration, is worth up to $8.5 million over five years if all options are exercised, according to Fairfax, Va.-based SRA.

Under the contract, SRA will provide services to operate and manage the Federal Acquisition Institute. FAI partners with federal executive agencies, the Defense Acquisition University and training and academic communities to foster and promote the development of a professional acquisition workforce across the federal government.

SRA will provide services through the framework of a corporate university. The company will conduct research relating to acquisition by executive agencies; develop a competency-based acquisition career model; develop collaborative partnerships with academic and professional associations; design and develop training; sponsor training events; and conduct outreach to inform the acquisition workforce of FAI products and services.

This work will include enhancing the FAI Online University. The SRA team includes Bowie State University, Windwalker Corp., Development InfoStructure and Jefferson Solutions LLC.

"We will continue to improve our support to acquisition professionals across federal agencies and help them gain the skills they need to perform successfully in a changing business environment."

SRA provides information technology services and solutions to federal agencies. Its services include strategic consulting; systems design, development and integration; and outsourcing and operations management. The company employs about 2,500 people. Its 2002 revenue was $407 million.
