New York taps ACS for human resources support

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. won a three-year, $22.3 million contract from the New York City Human Services Administration for business process outsourcing services, the company announced this week.

Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will provide the agency with critical business process outsourcing services centered on document management, conversion and tracking. The firm will provide the services in its new processing facility.

The Human Resources Administration leads New York's welfare reform initiatives and serves city residents through a wide range of social programs.

The agency's mission is to make work central in the lives of every able-bodied New Yorker receiving public assistance. The agency's programs also ensure that those people who meet eligibility requirements are provided food, shelter, temporary financial assistance, medical care, counseling and other essential services.

ACS' services, including document imaging and storage of case management records, will add new technology capabilities to support the agency's growing case management system, the company said.

ACS has about 40,000 employees and had annual sales of $3.2 billion in fiscal 2002.
