Deloitte Consulting names Robinson CEO

Find opportunities — and win them.

Paul Robinson has been confirmed as chief executive officer of Deloitte Consulting.

Paul Robinson has been confirmed by the partners of Deloitte Consulting to serve as chief executive officer, the firm announced May 19. The leadership change is effectively immediately.

The change comes as parent company Deloitte, Touche, Tohmatsu of New York, begins reintegrating the consulting arm. The plan had been to spin off Deloitte Consulting as a separate company to be known as Braxton.

The decision in March to become one again was based in large part on external factors, including the tight credit market and the uncertain state of the economy, the company said.

The changes are defining moments for Deloitte Consulting that will require important decisions to be made in the weeks and months ahead, Robinson said.

"By choosing to remain a part of Deloitte, Touche, Tohmatsu, we will have the financial strength to develop new products and services and greater global scale in an environment where size increasingly matters," Robinson said.

He succeeds Douglas McCracken, who announced his resignation and retirement from the firm last month.

Robinson, 50, previously was global leader of the New York-based firm's public-sector practice and a member of its Global Operations Management Committee. He has been with the firm more than 20 years.

Robinson also has served as the regional managing director of the firm's Canadian practice and managing director of Deloitte Consulting's Ottawa office.

He has worked primarily with large enterprises in both the public and private sectors in Canada, the United States and other locations worldwide. He is a chartered accountant and certified management consultant.

Deloitte Consulting, a member firm of Deloitte, Touche, Tohmatsu, has about 15,000 employees and annual revenue of $3 billion.
